Home Staging Why is home staging so important?
Home staging is so important in just about any market, but obviously even more important during buyers market. The reason is that sellers will have to compete with so many homes that buyers have to choose from. It is always a smart marketing move because staging makes your home appeal to the buyer's senses; and they would prefer to buy your home over others -- sometimes at a higher price. Although home staging really refers to the interior of the house, never neglect the curb appeal of the exterior of the house. Remember that the exterior is what prospective buyers see first. If the exterior "turns off" prospective buyers, it adversely affects whatever you invest in the interior of the house. Staging a home involves cleaning, polishing, putting the right furniture and accessories. It should make the home look like a show room, quite different from a lived-in environment. This helps home buyers visualize what a home can look like -- something that most buyers need help on. Most homes have "potential"; the challenge is how to help buyers visualize that potential. This page is not intended to show you how to stage a home. Rather, it is to demonstrate and emphasize the importance of staging. How else can you better see the visual impact of staging than a side-by-side comparison of the before and after pictures? As effective the pictures are, staging is just as effective in accomplishing the same: to help prospective buyers "visualize" your home's potential.
